WITH ALCOHOLIC BASED ANTISEPTIC:
Apply the product in the palm of the hand.
Scrub vigorously both hands
Cover the entire surface of the hands and fingers.
Continue scrubbing until drying (15 to 25 sec)
WITH WATER AND SOAP OR ANTISEPTIC SOLUTION:
Wet hands first
Apply 3 to 5 cc of soapy solution (1 dispenser application)
Scrub vigorously for 15 seconds covering the entire surface of hands and fingers
(interdigital spaces and under the nails)
Rinse with plenty of water letting it drain into the elbow.
Do not use hot water, it facilitates the presentation of dermatitis.
Dry with paper towel (it is as important as washing).
Discard the paper towel after closing the bobbin with it.
OTHER ASPECTS OF HAND HYGIENE
They must be removed from the hands: watch, bracelets, rings, etc., leaving the hands free for proper hygiene.
Nails should be kept short, not beyond 0.5 cm. No enamel because they facilitate bacterial colonization and / or candids.
The% of Gram (-) bacteria recovered from the nails showed a significant difference (p <0.05) when analyzed: artificial nails (35%), sculpted (10%) and finally the natural ones (5%) for which it is PROHIBITED THE USE OF THE SAME IN UTIN AND UCIN (Edel. Et al. NURSING RESEARCH 1998; 47, 54-59)
Hand hygiene before and after wearing gloves
Wear gloves when we come in contact with blood or other potential contaminating material
Remove gloves after contact with the patient
Do not wear the same gloves with more than one patient
Do not wash the gloves.
